The Lada Taiga 4x4 still going strong after more than 30 years

The Lada Niva 4x4 also called the Lada Taiga in Germany and in Austria after 2013 is still the cheapest and one of the best 4x4 vehicle today. Loved by many loyal fans from all over the world the Lada Niva is one of the best 4x4 vehicle ever produced. And even after new EU-regulations the official German distributor of the Lada Taiga has found a new way of importing this epic 4x4 because the ongoing demand in Germany and in Austria.

The little trick here is that the Lada factory is producing these cars for Germany and Austria with a different frame number. And even the 5 door Lada Taiga version is still available also known as the long version.

And no, there is no air conditioning in this one, no electric windows standard on this Lada Niva, and the engine is still a noisy one and very very thirsty but many owners love their Lada Niva or Taiga and many owners order a new Niva with a LPG installation.

But this little 4x4 is loved because it is very reliable and almost indestructible, year after year and altough there is a new model released, the Lada Urban, people still love this classic look.

The Almost Indestructible Russian UAZ Hunter Jeep You Only Need A Hammer To Repair

The almost indestructible UAZ Hunter jeep

Who would not know the classic khaki green UAZ Jeeps, which served in armies of most of the countries of the former eastern bloc, and serves reliably till now. UAZ under 469 marking gained reputation of undestroyable Russian steel, which will handle any terrain and is repairable by just a hammer.

Back in the 80’s product line 469 was modernized and renamed. Modified engines and gearboxes, more variants of bodywork including lengthened wheelbase and other minor changes were put into one vehicle line called 3151. More numbers after “3151” marking means specific version and equipment level. Production line 3151 graded to model called Hunter (31519(5)), which showed light modernization to the customers, manly usage of wider  axles from Patriot model, new engines meeting advanced pollution standards, more plastic exterior parts, etc. Fans were unfortunately not satisfied. UAZ 3153 was always light inexpensive offroad cars, however Hunter chosen opposite direction – a new modern looking expensive retro SUV. At the Autumn of 2010 finally came the long awaited  breakthrough.

UAZ finally introduced a new vehicle, for which many of you called.The UAZ 469 is back in production, however modernized only where it is reasonable. The Vehicle received a new braking system also used in the Patriot model, a new engine and gearbox, a new heater and wiper system and a new electric installation. On the other hand, there is minimum of design changes. Round instruments in the center of dashboard are still there, together with metal bumpers, two petrol tanks or availability of SOFT TOP version we can say, that classic retro UAZ is back!
